How does a custom web design or development process typically work?
We typically start by asking a lot of questions, an evaluation of your organization's needs and goals on the web. If you have an existing site, we'll want to evaluate that as well. It's important to get to know a new client, establish a starting point, and a set of objectives early in the process. From there we can work with you to make decisions as to where to take your site. Once agreed, we'll take the process step by step, beginning with a proposal, a site map, graphic designs (comps), and/or a small test site. Every project is different and yours may require more or less. Once we know what we're building and what it's going to look like, coding and construction begins, and you'll see your site come together very quickly.
How long does the process typically take?
A site can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on the size and complexity.

Can you update my existing site?
Yes. We will take a look at what you'd like done and can let you know what's involved. If your site is older than a couple of years, or if you're thinking of more than a simple upgrade, it may be better simply to start from scratch. It can also be very time consuming to work with another developer's code. Sometimes, what looks easy on the outside turns into a complicated project when you look at the inside.
How can I tell if the domain name I want is available?
Use the domain search tool on the Domain Manager page. If your requested domain name is available, you can register it within minutes. For those domain names that are not available, we will provide you with a list of options for domains close to what you are seeking.
How much does it cost to register my own domain name?
We can register your domain for $12 per year.
What's "propagate"?
When you register your domain name, you tell InterNIC which domain name servers (DNS) to use to serve your site to the web. The DNS entries have to propagate - Internet Service Providers (ISPs) around the world have to update their records. This typically takes a few hours. Since some ISPs update their DNS tables more frequently than others, your site will be visible from some ISPs earlier than others. This process is the same no matter which host you choose. In the meantime, you can use your unique IP address to work on and view your site while your domain name propagates.
I want to add a hit counter to my home page. Can I?
Counters used to be very popular, but they are rarely seen on professional sites these days. They are easily manipulated and not that informative. However, if you want one, we can easily add a counter to your site.
Can I get to my site without the "www" at the beginning of the URL?
Yes. http://www.yourdomain.com or http://yourdomain.com will both work.
What is email forwarding?
Email forwarding allows email sent to your domain name (you@your_company.com) to be automatically forwarded to your regular email address. You can set up your account to forward email to any POP3 email accounts you specify. For example, you can set up

What are auto responders?
Auto responders can be useful. They automatically send a preset email response to anyone sending mail to your address. You could use an auto responder to send company information to prospects or to let people know when you're on vacation. Autoresponders are included as an option on all email accounts, but we recommend using them with caution as these days we've found that email addresses with autoresponders tend to attract more spam than those without them.
